It's going to be 30°C on my wedding day - help!

“I’m getting married this weekend and it’s going to be THIRTY DEGREES! How do I stay cool, calm, pretty, not sweaty, not dehydrated, not emotional, not frizzy and not ruin my whole day?!”

Oh babessss!!!! Firstly, don't freak out you can’t control what you can’t control. If it’s going to be hot, it’s going to be hot. The women who have the best time are the ones that don't fight it. Lean into glowy skin and slow down. Hair up. Light energy. Laughing lots. Standing in the shade when you can. Accepting that everybody is warm but they're ok.

Here is some genuinely underrated advice so you don't chase the air-con and miss your perfect day:

• Hair UP. I promise. Neck sweat changes lives 😂• Mini deodorant and SPF in your bag• Electrolytes first thing in the morning, not just water• Eat proper food EARLY. Salt + protein especially. (Salt and protein help stabilise you physically before the chaos starts.Heat, adrenaline, alcohol, champagne, nerves, standing for hours, hugging people, dancing, and not eating properly is potentially a recipe for feeling faint, anxious, shaky by mid-afternoon.)• Hold a small ice cube in your palms/wrists to centre yourself and cool• Take spare underwear (dry underwear... a dream)• Anti-chafe balm if ya need is helpful• Handheld electric fan is must• Perfume in your hair rather than all over hot skin• A cold flannel or ice roller before makeup is elite• Blotting papers > caking on more powder• Caudalie Beauty Elixir face mist is GORGEOUS throughout the day• If possible, choose shade over direct sun. I know you think it'll be nicer but you'll be grateful if you switch things up• Don’t start drinking alcohol too early because the crash hits HARD in heat• If you're in satin, don't sit on the fabric, sit on the bare seat to avoid a lil patch• Take a second dress, I promise you, even if you've spent £25,000 on your wedding dress, wearing anything while you're hot and bothered for 8 hours becomes cumbersome and you'll be happy to have a fresh option

Also debunking a few old wives’ tales:
  • Drinking boiling hot tea to “cool yourself down” only really works in very specific dry climates where sweat evaporates quickly… not when you’re dressed for a British wedding in humidity and emotion
  • “More powder” does not make you look less sweaty
  • “Drink ice-cold water constantly" tiny sips regularly are better than chugging freezing water occasionally. Too much icy water on an empty stomach when you’re already hot/anxious can actually make some people feel nauseous or bloated.

And the biggest thing: protect your nervous system before your makeup. A calm bride always looks more beautiful than a perfect bride. People won’t remember if you were slightly shiny. They’ll remember your energy, your smile, the way you felt in the room and how happy you looked.

Have the best day!! X
